I have visited Peter and his family and his co-workers several times, while on my trips to the most beautiful state in the union, and each time continue to be amazed at not just the beauty of the county, but the consistent dedication of the fish and wildlife workers. Each year brings a new challenge to them and their hard work and dedication to bettering the ecosystem in the repective areas to which they have been assigned is remarkable. I look foreward to all the new stories in the year 2009.

I have also spent a few days, at different times, over the last 5 years at the Berners Bay Holigan Camp assisting Pete, Chad, Dave and the rest of the team in various projects in the area. It is a beautiful part of the world and I recommend that anyone with the opportunity to visit that area, take the chance and immerse yourself in nature.

Mihael,
What a delightful article about this pristine area of Alaska. As you described the fish of Berners Bay it brought back memories of smelting along the Oregon coast a kid in the 1950's. Yes, I'm really that old. I always look forward to my Alaska adventures when visiting my son Pete and his family. Thanks for sharing you photos and story.
